Description

Ukrainian wreath, or “vinok”, is a part of a Ukrainian national attire. Traditionally, it was worn by girls and young unmarried women on festive occasions and holidays. In modern days, it is worn more often and has acquired a significant value as a symbol of Ukrainian culture. Flower Crowns are made in Ukraine by Tetiana Perederii, the teacher of Ukrainian language and literature. Tetiana’s hometown in Zaporizhzhia region has been under military occupation since the first days of the full-scale invasion by the Russians. Tetiana was forced to move to the city of Zaporizhzhia where she remains now. She still works at her school which operates online and dedicates all her free time to creating the flower crowns which she sends to Canada to be sold at the fundraisers organized by Ukrainian Club of Moncton. Every petal and leave of the crowns are made by hand and assembled with great care and attention to the detail.
